A Video Has Surfaced Showing A Ukrainian MICH-2000 Breaking Through Russian Air Defenses And Blowing Up An Oil Refinery

The MICH-2000 drone is used by the SBU's "Alpha" Special Operations Center.

A video has surfaced on social media showing a Ukrainian MICH-2000 long-range drone breaking through Russia’s multi-layered air defense system during a massive attack on Moscow and the Moscow region on the night of September 20. The footage was captured by an eyewitness on a cell phone.

The video shows the drone flying over Moscow, where fires from previous strikes are already visible. This is specifically the MICH-2000—a Ukrainian mass-produced long-range deep-strike kamikaze drone capable of striking targets at a distance of up to 2,000 kilometers.

The footage was taken around 5:34 a.m. The drone flies over the city, locks onto the target, begins its dive, and delivers a precision strike. At that moment, Russian air defense missiles are firing nearby, but they fly past and fail to shoot down the drone. The drone flies through the fire, locks onto the target, and strikes the oil refinery facility, while the Russian missiles miss their mark.

The MICH-2000 is used by the SBU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center to carry out high-precision strikes against strategic targets deep behind Russian lines. Its warhead can carry up to 60 kilograms of explosives, and its cruising speed is approximately 160 km/h.

The base cost of a single drone of this type is estimated at approximately $48,000. There are several variants that differ in flight range, navigation equipment, and warhead weight.

The nighttime attack on September 20 was one of the largest ever carried out in the Moscow region. It involved not only the MICH-2000 but also other Ukrainian weapons systems: the “Palyanitsa,” “Lyuty,” Pelican, and other drones. As a result, the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya and a major logistics facility were struck.
