An Audi Electric Car Set A Guinness World Record

The electric Audi A6 Sportback E-Tron traveled 1,338 km on a single charge, setting a new Guinness World Record for production cars. Polish rally driver Miko Marczyk was behind the wheel, according to Motor1.

The run began on September 11 at 1:55 a.m. in Poland. Marcik drove through Kraków, Sandomierz, Warsaw, Toruń, and Grudziądz, reached the Baltic Sea, and then headed back. The car’s battery ran completely out more than 45 hours after the start.

The official range of this Audi model under the WLTP cycle is up to 777 km. Thus, during the record-breaking trip, the electric vehicle traveled approximately 72% farther than the stated range.

“It’s not just the driver’s skill that matters here, but also the efficiency of the car itself,” writes Motor1.

The Audi A6 Sportback E-Tron has a drag coefficient of 0.21 and a battery with a usable capacity of 94.9 kWh. The record-breaking run took place on regular roads, including through heavy city traffic.

The longest range ever achieved by an electric vehicle has not yet been surpassed. In 2023, a prototype from the TUfast Eco Team traveled 2,574 km on a single charge. Audi’s new result set a record specifically among production cars.
