Subaru Revives The Legendary Impreza

Subaru is bringing back the base model to the Impreza lineup, which the company had discontinued a year ago. At the same time, the Sport trim is being discontinued, and the 2027 model lineup is being simplified—buyers are now offered the standard Impreza and the more powerfully equipped RS, according to Motor1.
The base model comes with 17-inch dark gray wheels, a multimedia system with a 7-inch screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two types of USB ports, cloth seats, and dual-zone climate control.
The Impreza RS looks noticeably different from the base model. It features 18-inch wheels, a black interior trim, fog lights, and a rear spoiler. The interior is equipped with a large 11.6-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Heated front seats and mirrors come standard on the RS.
Both versions are powered by a 2.5-liter boxer engine producing 180 l.s., a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and Subaru’s signature all-wheel drive.
“Subaru is bringing back a more affordable version while simultaneously removing the Sport from the lineup,” the publication writes.
A new body color, Ignition Red, has been added for the 2027 model year. Buyers will be offered a total of six base colors, and the special Citron Yellow Pearl will be available for an additional charge.
The return of the base Impreza is particularly notable in light of last year, when Subaru discontinued the entry-level version and effectively raised the bar. Now the company has decided to restore the lineup’s classic structure and make the Impreza more accessible to the general public once again.
