Czech Prime Minister Declares Readiness To Fight Russia

The Czech Republic is ready to fulfill its obligations to NATO.

The Czech Republic is prepared to fulfill its NATO obligations and send troops to assist the Baltic states in the event of a possible Russian attack.

This was stated by Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, according to Reuters.

According to the Czech prime minister, Prague is actively assessing potential security challenges and preparing for relevant scenarios. To this end, officials are in constant consultation with the country’s president Petr Pavel.

“The fact that we aren’t talking about this and journalists aren’t getting material for their articles doesn’t mean we aren’t addressing this issue. Of course, we’re preparing. If, God forbid, Russia attacks one of the Baltic states, then under Article 5 we must send two of our mechanized brigades,” Babiš emphasized.

Previously, the politician had repeatedly stressed that European leaders should focus their efforts on a diplomatic settlement and promoting peace.

During the 2023 presidential election campaign, Babiš faced a wave of harsh criticism. The reason was his statement that he was unwilling to send Czech soldiers to fight for NATO allies in the event of an attack by Russia.
