Authorities Ordered The Removal Of "Junk Cars" From Minsk's Streets

The deadline was set for October 1.

Minsk authorities plan to clear city courtyards and streets of cars that have been abandoned for a long time and have effectively become junk cars during the month of September.

The task of completing this work by October 1 was set by Oleg Korzun, Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, at a working group meeting dedicated to the city’s maintenance and beautification.

The meeting also addressed the development of parking spaces and related infrastructure. The CEO of the “Garages, Parking Lots, and Parking Facilities” association Andrei Zyryanov specifically drew attention to the problem of abandoned cars taking up space in courtyards and on the streets. Following this, Oleg Korzun ordered that the abandoned vehicles be removed from the city within a month.

The issue of abandoned vehicles in Minsk has been addressed for several years now. Back in March 2024, the capital’s State Traffic Police launched a chatbot through which residents can report abandoned vehicles.
