Russia and Belarus will sign an agreement on November 2 to set up a joint regional air defense system in early November, the state secretary of the “union state” avel Borodin said to journalists.
“On November 2, the Supreme State Council of the union state will have its session in Moscow. The main point on the agenda will be military and technical cooperation,” P. Borodin said before opening of a session of joint board of the military bodies of the two countries.
According to him, an agreement on a regional air defense system is planned to be signed in Moscow on November 2. Pavel Borodin said: "I have no doubt of that."
He noted that that the treaty was vital in the context of NATO's ongoing eastward expansion.
"Militarily speaking, it is virtually a shield against NATO,” P. Borodin said.
Besides, according to him, expansion of military cooperation between Russia and Belarus will promote work creation at military enterprises of the two countries.
