A Belarusian escaped from Moscow Butyrka prison

The arrested citizen of Belarus just got over the fence of the remand prison and found himself at large.

A supposed criminal has escaped from Butyrka detention facility located in Novoslobodskaya Street. As Gazeta.ru has learnt from Sergei Tsygankov, the official representative of the Moscow’s office of the Federal Correctional Service, the break took place at 4:57 p.m.

Belarusian Vitaly Astrouski, 26, managed to escape from guards, overcome the fence and leave the territory of pretrial detention facility #2.

The office doesn’t inform how many people were guarding the criminal.

Astrouski is seemingly of 22 –25 years old, body height is 175 cm, normal constitution, Gazeta.ru learnt from the center of operations information of the Moscow police department. The escaper has short dark hair, wears a blue tracksuit with yellow stripes, dark boots. He had no outerwear. A police composite sketch of the criminal is expected to be spread in Moscow soon. “We are carrying out search and investigative activities. Don’t worry, the fugitive will be caught,” the police department said.

Astrouski is accused of committing a number of thefts in Moscow houses.

He is incriminated violation of article 158 part 3 of the Criminal Code of Russia (theft). The article provides for a fine from 100,000 to 500,000 rubles or imprisonment from 2 to 6 years. “Astrouski was a person on remand. Detention was chosen as a pretrial restriction for him. He has spent two weeks in detention facility #2. He was in custody in another place before,” Tsygankov said.

The last breakaway from Butyrka prison took place in 2001.

In September 2001, Vladimir Zhelezoglo and Anatoly Kulikov, serving a life sentence, and their cellmate Boris Bezotechestvo dug a hole in the cell, got in prison underground storeys, and got out in Novoslobodskaya Street by breaking pavement. The escapees were caught in the wood near Moscow 20 days later. Ukrainian Ivan Vinogradov escaped from Butyrka prison. He was detained for an attempt on a police officer’s life. He wasn’t accompanied by guards when he was going to a meeting with his mother. He showed faked certificate of a Penitentiary Service officer at the exit and left the detention facility. The fugitive was caught in the Vladimir region two months later.

The last jailbreak in Moscow occurred in detention facility #4 “Medved” located in Vilyuiskaya Street in August 2009. 38-year old Yevgeny Makarov, convicted under part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of Russia (embezzlement), used a screwdriver to start a lorry and broke several fences. Having reached the main stone barrier, Makarov used a board to get to the territory of a brick factory. Then he got into a black Mercedes waitng for him and drove away. Makarov was detained in the village of Krasnoarmeisky of the Orel distraction of the Rostov region three days later.
