Ministry Of Communication Develops New Document Allowing Blocking Websites In Belarus

Content of the document is not revealed to journalists. The Ministry of Communication and Informatization developed the draft of Lukashenka's decree " On Improving the Order of Using the Information Space."

This became known from the response of Lukashenka's Operational Analytical Center to the statement of the press secretary of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Barys Garetski, the BAJ website informs. The answer, signed by Henadz Belkau, states that the Ministry of Communication and Informatization drafted a Lukashenka's decree "On Improving the Order of Using the Information Space", which provides for the procedure of restricting the access to Internet resources containing information that is prohibited or restricted to distribution by legislative acts.

NGO Belarusian Association of Journalists appealed to the Ministry asking to let them get acquainted with the text of the document, as well as to find out at what stage its coordination was.

However, the department of telecommunications, legal and personnel work, as well as the Department of Informatization of the Ministry informed the BAJ's press service that they allegedly did not know anything about the preparation of the decree regulating access to Internet resources.

NGO Belarusian Association of Journalists sent a written request to the Ministry demanding to provide an opportunity to review the document and discuss it.
