Senator John Cornyn responded to the video of Whitcoff’s remarks with a single sentence: “Putin is a cold-blooded killer.”

Congressman Don Bacon called the special envoy’s statement “yet another disgrace.”

Trump himself stated the day before that, in his opinion, Russia is “behaving normally” toward Ukraine and “isn’t really doing anything in particular.”
