Anatol Liabedzka Sentenced To 50 Base Fees Fine, 3-day Detention

The trial against the chairman of UCP has just ended in Zhabinka.

The Zhabinka district court sentenced chairman of the United Civil Party (UCP) Anatol Liabedzka to a fine of 50 base fees (Bn 1,225) and three days of arrest for "disobeying the traffic police officer". Liabedzka himself reported this on his Facebook page, tut.by writes.

Liabedzka was detained on February, 9th.

After the event, the car with Anatol Liabedzka and Aliaksandr Dabravolski was stopped on the Brest-Minsk highway in the Zhabinka district "without a clear explanation of the reasons". Liabedzka was taken to the Zhabinka police department, where they made a report on disobedience to the police officer and announced the detention. After that, he was transported to the Kobryn police department.

Liabedzka denied the charges of disobedience to a police officer.

- The traffic police officers themselves pulled me physically from the car. In the Kobryn police department, they prepared the case for the court for 5 hours, and drafted up two protocols against me. The first one was for driving without a license, as my driver's license expired, and they don't give me a medical certificate. I lost consciousness once, and so they tell me that they cannot give me a certificate, although I passed all the commissions. The second protocol is about disobeying the traffic policemen who stopped us. But this is a lie.

It is resolved herewith that Liabedzka A.U., under Part 2 of Art. 18.19 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, shall be subjected to administrative penalty in the form of a fine to the state's income in the amount of fifty base fees, which is Bn 1 225. Under Art. 23.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, he shall be subjected to administrative penalty in the form of arrest for a period of three days.

In accordance with Part 2 of Art. 7.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, on the aggregate of offenses by the method of totalling, the penalty in the form of a fine in the amount of fifty base fees worth Bn 1 225, and an administrative arrest for a period of three days shall be imposed on Liabedzka A.V..

As reported in the press-center of the Supreme Court, Liabedzka had the time of his arrest from 9 to 12 February 2018 taken into consideration when calculating the term of his administrative detention. That is, the penalty in the form of an administrative arrest is considered to have been served.

The decision on the case of an administrative offense may be appealed or challenged at the Brest regional court through the Zhabinka district court with respect to the fine within ten days, and with respect to the administrative arrest - within five days from the date of the announcement.
