Edgars Rinkēvičs believes that such an event would be contrary to the principles of sportmanship.
Latvian Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevich spoke on his Twitter about the country's position on the World Cup 2021.
“I reiterate the position of Latvia that organising the World Ice Hockey Championship in Minsk is completely unacceptable, repressions against peaceful demonstrators, including athletes, makes such an event immoral and contrary to the principles of sportmanship. We await the IIHF decision,” Rinkēvičs wrote.
It should be noted that the head of the IIHF Rene Fasel arrived in Minsk to discuss with Lukashenka the possibility of holding the tournament.
