They were scaring the priests with NATO.
In Minsk, at a meeting of the Consultative Interfaith Council under the Commissioner for Religious and National Affairs on December 20, the head of the main department of ideological work of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Leanid Kasinsky, spoke to the heads and representatives of all confessions of Belarus, the press service of the department reports.
Kasinski told the priests about the military-political situation and measures to protect national security. Here's what he was talking about:
NATO is building up its presence in Europe, creating new air strike groups, weapons and equipment depots;
NATO countries are conducting more and more exercises, including in the Belarusian direction;
the situation at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border is difficult;
neighboring countries create terrorist organizations and conduct an anti-Belarusian information campaign.
At the end, the Major General reassured the clerics:
“The situation is difficult, but controllable. The measures of strategic deterrence implemented by the state demonstrate the readiness of the Belarusian army to defend the country,” he said.
By the way, on the same day, the Ministry of Defense conducted “political information” with representatives of the district executive committees of different regions of the country.
The lecture was given by First Deputy Minister, Chief of the General Staff Viktar Hulevich. The Major General, as stated in the message of the office, “brought to the audience the main trends in the development of the military-political situation around the republic.”
