Opposition Wins Parliamentary Elections In Serbia

Vučić conceded defeat.

Former Serbian President and pro-Russian politician Aleksandar Vučić stated that the opposition “Student List” is winning the early parliamentary elections in Serbia.

“Judging by the results of the stratified sample, it is clear that we have lost this election,” Vucic noted at the headquarters of the Serbian Progressive Party.

The main contest in the election unfolded between Vucic’s bloc of supporters and the “Student List,” which grew out of a protest movement that formed after the tragedy at the Novi Sad train station in 2024.

Voters elected 250 members of the National Assembly. Eighteen slates participated in the election, and voter turnout, according to preliminary estimates, may have approached 70%.

The “Student List” became the main political rival to Vučić’s camp after nearly two years of mass protests.
