Andrei Piontkovsky: They Will Try To Remove Putin, "War" Will Break Out In Kremlin
ANDREI PIONTKOVSKY

After the failure of the Russian offensive in Donbass, they will look for someone to blame.

If Russia loses the battle for Donbass, Kremlin head Vladimir Putin will be concerned about his own defeat and will start looking for those to blame among the military. He may try to dismiss or arrest them. However, they may retaliate, which could result in Putin's removal from power on May 9. This was stated by Russian publicist Andrei Piontkovsky.

He told the Ukraine 24 TV channel that the reaction in the Kremlin to the situation with the failure of plans to occupy Kyiv helps to predict the consequences of another defeat. In the event of another defeat, Putin will try to blame the military. Arrests are possible. However, the military themselves could also deal a blow to his regime.

"If even the Kyiv defeat led to the processes in Moscow that we have been talking about, the second one will exacerbate them to the limit. Either Putin will need to blame essentially all the military, except maybe this new executioner he appointed, for the failures and try to dismiss or arrest them. Or the military will deal him a preemptive blow. This is the logic of regimes like this. The authoritarian-fascist type of regimes. They do not survive a military defeat," Piontkovsky believes.

According to the expert, the offensive in Donetsk and Luhansk regions may last two weeks at the most. Then Moscow will start looking for those to blame. It is quite possible that Putin will no longer be in power on May 9.

"This whole attempted Donbass offensive, well some people think it has already started - it started yesterday, today, tomorrow, it will last two weeks at the most. So, until May 1. And then the first week of May for the feedback session in Moscow. On May 9, we will see a completely different bunker. Someone has to be blamed," stressed Andrei Piontkovsky.
