Control Empowerment On Belarusian-Lithuanian Border

The powers of the State Customs Committee officers will be expanded at two more checkpoints on the Belarusian border on August 1 this year. We are talking about the Beniakoni auto and railway checkpoint, according to the State Customs Committee.

The duties of customs officers at these checkpoints, in addition to customs operations, will include checking the documents of truck drivers, compulsory insurance contracts for vehicle owners, monitoring compliance with the rules for the stay of foreigners, as well as the rules for transit travel.

There will be nine such points in Belarus with expanded customs officers' duties. They will receive certain functions of the border service. It is reported that soon the duties of the State Customs Committee officers will be expanded at another 12 checkpoints. After that, the customs authorities will carry out certain functions of the border service at almost all checkpoints through which trucks pass, and at seven more railway checkpoints.
