Ukrainian Surgeons Remove Unexploded Grenade From Fighter's Body

Ukrainian surgeons removed an unexploded grenade from the body of a soldier. The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar spoke about the unique and dangerous surgery.

"Not every wound to the heart is fatal! Military doctors performed an operation to remove an unexploded VOG grenade from the body of a serviceman.

It was removed in the presence of two sappers who insured the safety of medical personnel, Maliar said.

According to the Deputy Minister, the operation was carried out by one of the most experienced surgeons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Verba, without electrocoagulation, since the grenade could detonate at any moment.

The surgery was successful, the soldier was sent for rehabilitation and recovery."

The VOG fragmentation grenade is the ammunition intended for an automatic grenade launcher. Its length is 113 mm, and its weight is 0.28 kg.
