'Judge Congratulated With Words: 'Long Live Belarus!'

The Belarusian has challenged the decision to expel him from Ukraine.

Today, the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal of Kyiv reversed the decision of the Migration Service on expelling Belarusian citizen Ivan Krasouski, Belarusian activist Iryna Lukashenka informed Mediazone.

On October 17, 2022, Krasouski was detained in Kyiv and a protocol was drawn up for illegal stay in the territory of Ukraine. The Belarusian was fined (5100 hryvnia) and ordered to leave the country within 10 days. Krasouski filed a complaint with the court, but the Dniprovskyi district court of Kyiv refused to overturn the Migration Police decision to expel him from the country. However, today the Court of Appeal granted Krasouski's appeal, annulling both the court ruling and the decision of the Migration Service. The trial took about half a year.

Iryna Lukashenka added that after the trial the judge congratulated Ivan with the words "Long live Belarus!"

Ivan Krasouski fled to Ukraine after the repression in Belarus. There he was engaged in volunteering, started to shoot a documentary about the war, visited front-line areas.

The court in Belarus sentenced Krasouski to 3 years in prison for gross misconduct (part 1 of article 342 of the Criminal Code). He was accused of participating in protests near the shopping centre "Riga" during the night of August 10-11, 2020. The case file contained a protocol of an operational search, from which it became known that Krasouski had been under surveillance since March 3, 2020.

The first time Krasouski was detained was on August 12, 2020 - at that time Krasouski was in a wheelchair after his release because of beatings by law enforcement officers.
