Exhibition Dedicated To Mikalai Statkevich In Warsaw

The leader of the Belarusian opposition has been behind bars for more than 1,000 days.

On April 29, the "1000 Days #" exhibition dedicated to the leader of the Belarusian opposition, political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich, will take place in Warsaw. The politician's comrades-in-arms from Narodnaia Hramada told Charter97.org about it.

“The leader of the Social Democrats has been fighting for a free and democratic Belarus since the early nineties. This is his fourth conviction on political charges. Mikalai Statkevich was sentenced to fourteen years in prison: it's not just a sentence for his civic position - it is a revival of the monstrous Stalinist verdicts for dissidence. There has been no information about him for more than two months.

Visitors of the exhibition will be able to leave wishes for Mikalai in the visitor's log, he will definitely read it,” said the organizers of the event.

Well-known Belarusian opposition politicians and Polish public figures confirmed their participation in the event.
