The Serbian President Succinctly Put Russian Propagandists In Their Place

Russian propagandists attempted to provoke Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York by asking about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Belgrade, which took place in August.

“Not everyone understood the invitation to Zelenskyy to visit Belgrade. How would you comment on that?” asked a journalist from the propaganda program “Vesti,” which airs on the Russian state-run television channel “Russia.”

In response, the Serbian leader made it clear that the policies and decisions of the Serbian state have nothing to do with Russia.

“I am the president of Serbia. And what do you think—as we understand it—when you speak with Ukrainians or Americans? That is our policy,” Vučić replied in Russian.

As is well known, the meeting between the Ukrainian and Serbian leaders in Belgrade took place on August 8. It was Zelenskyy’s first official visit to Serbia.
