People will be asked more questions.
The National Statistical Committee is going to introduce a questionnaire at car checkpoints on the Belarusian-EU border.
The purpose of the questionnaire is to study "unorganized import and export of goods by natural persons and the direction of international tourism.
This is stated in the instructions published on the National Internet portal, agreed with the State Customs Committee.
Belstat wants to have the data "necessary to generate official statistical information" that is missing in the customs statistics on foreign trade of Belarus with the countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union.
As follows from the decree of the National Statistical Committee (No. 10 of March 10, 2023), published on the National Legal Internet Portal of Belarus on Wednesday, the questioning of individuals is voluntary and anonymous. Belstat conducts it in conjunction with customs officers at road border crossings.
There are two road border crossings on the border of Belarus with Poland and Latvia, and six - with Lithuania. As for the border with Ukraine, all 12 checkpoints are inoperative, so no questioning is possible there.
