Zelensky: General Syrsky's Units Repulse Enemy Near Bakhmut
VOLODYMYR ZELENSKY

The Ukrainian president officially announced this at a meeting of the Stavka.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, 12 May, held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's headquarters. The participants discussed deliveries of missiles and shells, while the military reported on the situation on the front.

RBC Ukraine reported this, citing Zelensky on Telegram.

During the Stavka, Oleksandr Syrsky, commander of the Eastern Group of Forces, and Oleksandr Tarnavsky, commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group of forces, reported on the situation on the front.

"We listened to General Syrsky's report, whose units have halted the enemy with super effort and even repulsed them in some areas..... We identified their priority needs and got acquainted with the pace of equipping the new brigades with equipment and ammunition," the Ukrainian head of state said.

The Stavka also heard reports from AFU Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny, Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, the AFU General Staff and Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn.

"We have reconciled all our long-term contracts for the supply of ammunition and missiles," Zelensky added.

The commander of the Eastern Group of Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, said that the AFU had forced occupants to retreat two kilometres in some sections in the Bakhmut direction.

At the same time, Deputy Defence Minister Anna Malyar said that the Ukrainian military had not lost a single position during the week.

She also noted that the defenders in eastern Ukraine are not only defending, but also pushing back the enemy in some areas.
