‘Level Of Hatred To Luka At Our Enterprise Reached 100%’

Belarusians call on the West to take decisive action.

A Charter97.org reader from Minsk told what people at the enterprise where she works thinks of Lukashenka:

— I, like all conscious Belarusians, was an active participant in marches in 2020, and after the repressions began, I helped the victims with money. Now everyone who lives in Belarus is afraid that today or tomorrow they will come for them. So I walk, looking around, listening to sounds, not answering phone calls from unfamiliar numbers. The brain blocks the news about the arrests. It works in such a way that you refuse to believe that this is happening in your country with your people. And I think at least 90 percent of people in Minsk feel this way.

The other day they came to our laboratory. We have some experience, so everyone immediately learned about my two colleagues. They were to blame for the fact that their faces were recognized on the march. And then it started spinning: a criminal case was immediately filed against one of our employees, another one transferred money to help political prisoners, and the amount of the fine was ten times greater.

Our reader’s colleagues call on the West to take action:

“The level of hatred for Luka at our enterprise has reached 100 percent. And on the sly, discussions began, since we have been working as one team for more than 10 years. And you know, we discussed not only the sad lot of prisoners of conscience, but also the indifferent, dismissive attitude of the West towards Belarus. Colleagues all unanimously say: “How much can you endure and express concern!”

When will tough sanctions be introduced to ease the pressure of the junta? We will find freedom ourselves, but we need support. Support from the free world, which would block the accounts of Lukashists and their enterprises.

Our collective has come to an absolute consensus that we are willing to tolerate sanctions for the sake of the release of political prisoners, for the sake of our security and for the sake of the freedom of our country.
