It is known when it will happen.
The United States has officially approved the transfer of American F-16 fighter jets from Denmark and the Netherlands to Ukraine after the training of Ukrainian pilots is completed.
This is reported by Reuters with reference to a US official, whose name is not mentioned.
According to the media outlet, Washington has given official assurances to Denmark and the Netherlands that the United States will expedite approval of all necessary third-party requests for the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine so that it will receive the fighter jets when the pilots are trained, the outlet writes.
Denmark and the Netherlands, which are leading the aviation coalition, recently sent the US a request for appropriate assurances.
A Reuters source said that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken sent letters to his Danish and Dutch counterparts assuring them that the requests would be approved.
"With this letter, I express the full support of the United States for both the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine and the training of Ukrainian pilots by qualified F-16 instructors," Blinken's letter said.
According to the US secretary of state, approval of the third-party requests will allow Ukraine "to take full advantage of its new capabilities once the first group of pilots completes training".
