Belarus Is Changing The Rules Governing The Work Of Public Transportation Inspectors

A new directive from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has been issued.

New guidelines approved by the Ministry of Transport and Communications have revised the rules governing video recording by inspectors while on duty. The changes concern the protection of passengers’ personal data, as well as the storage of and access to such information, reports “Belsat”.

Under the new rules, effective October 5, when the directive takes effect, inspectors will be required to inform passengers that video and audio recordings are being made. Recording must be continuous during ticket inspections. Access to these recordings will be limited to a select group of individuals, and altering the recordings on the device or storage medium using software is prohibited.

How will ticket inspectors operate now? A video camera is mounted on the right or left side of the uniform. There must also be a “Video and audio recording in progress” chevron or other mark on the uniform. Recording begins upon boarding the vehicle, and ticket inspections may only be conducted while recording is active. After the inspection, the device switches to standby mode and is turned off at the end of the shift.

The instructions prohibit the inspector from interfering with the recording or turning off the device (except in certain cases), using it for personal purposes, working without the “Recording in Progress” badge, or destroying, copying, or distributing the recordings.

In addition, last night, posts in Kyiv-based social media groups reported that water supply disruptions were occurring on the left bank of Kyiv amid the Russian attack. Eyewitnesses claimed that water pressure had dropped in apartments.

Klitschko subsequently confirmed this information. According to him, reduced water pressure is being observed in the Solomianskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts, though the causes remain unknown. Specialists are already working to restore the water supply.
