Political Scientist: Lukashenka Is Desperately Leaking Information

This will not end well for the dictator.

A sudden check of the combat readiness of troops is taking place in Belarus. Lukashenka sent weapons and troops to the borders of Lithuania — against the background of statements by Russian propaganda about the need to "punish" the Baltic states.

How can such "games" on the side of Moscow end for the Belarusian dictator? Charter’97 spoke about this with Oleksandr Musiyenko, a well-known political expert and head of the Ukrainian Center for Military and Legal Studies:

— I will highlight a few important points. Firstly, I worry less about Lukashenka and more about Belarusians. It's about the country and its people. So these games will definitely not end in anything good for Belarus.

What interest does the people of Belarus have in playing escalation against Lithuania? No! Therefore, Belarus definitely loses, because, again, people and the state will suffer because of Lukashenka's actions.

Secondly, Belarus, its troops and the outcast Lukashenka are perceived as a full-fledged member of Putin's "team" who fulfils all his fancies. We need to send troops to the Lithuanian border — we will. It is necessary to send troops to Ukraine — we will send them.

Thirdly, the combat readiness check near the border of a state that now does not threaten anything indicates an escalation. Let me remind you that Russia also began by launching large-scale exercises at the borders of Ukraine and Belarus to prepare for aggression.

I would also like to emphasize the paradoxical thing. Lukashenka has such a developed instinct for self-preservation that he tries to send signals to the West in every possible way. Some information will come out about the preparation for the combat readiness check, about the troops, and then some exercises will come.

I keep an eye on it and see that there is a deliberate leak of information. That is, he seems to be trying to warn the West about Putin's next steps. This is based on his instinct of self-preservation, he is trying to sneak, to say “I was forced”.

Belarusians need to understand that it is not good that Russia is dragging Belarus into an escalation first against Ukraine, and now against Lithuania – it won’t work. This will affect every Belarusian.
