Russia Struck A Turkish Transport Ship In The Port Of Chernomorsk In Odessa Region

The vessel was engulfed in flames after impact.

Russia on Friday fired missiles and drones at two of the largest seaports in Ukraine's Odessa region, Odessa and Chernomorsk. A civilian vessel was damaged in Chernomorsk as a result of the shelling, President Vladimir Zelensky said. Judging by footage from Ukraine's State Emergency Situations Service, the CENK T bulk carrier came under Russian attack. According to Reuters sources, it belongs to a Turkish company.

Presumably, it is the Cenk Shipping RoRo. The vessel was engulfed in flames after the strike. Russian forces attacked Ukrainian ports with Iskander-M missiles, Crimean Wind wrote. The channel also reported about launches of Shahed drones from the territory of Crimea.

The bulk carrier attacked in Chernomorsk runs under the flag of Panama and regularly runs between Turkish and Ukrainian ports, according to ship tracking data studied by The Insider. Before the strike, the CENK T was traveling from Karasu in Turkey towards the Romanian port of Sulina. The vessel was carrying containers of the company AKSA, it is a major Turkish manufacturer of diesel, gasoline and gas generators and power plants.

In addition to the attack on the Turkish vessel in Chernomorsk, Russia hit a container reloader in the port of Odessa, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba said in his Telegram channel. According to him, an employee of a private company was injured in the attack.

Russia struck the Turkish vessel and Odessa ports on the same day that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Putin Ashgabat at the "International Peace and Security Forum." Anadolu reported that the Turkish leader called on Russian Federation and Ukraine to limit attacks against energy facilities and ports.
