The Bundestag Called For Strengthening Ukraine's Air Defense And Handing Over Taurus Missiles

Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure are calculated.

Co-chairwoman of the German opposition Green Party Franciska Brantner called on the government of Friedrich Merz to strengthen Ukraine's air defense because of increased Russian attacks.

She said this in an interview with the dpa.

Brantner said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin "doesn't want peace - he wants enslavement."

She noted that Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure are calculated, not random, so Ukraine has the right to demand additional air defense assets from its partners.

"Kiev has the right to demand additional air defense support, and the German government should find a way together with its European partners to provide more assistance," the lawmaker said.

In addition, Brantner called on the German government to transfer Taurus cruise missiles with a range of more than 500 kilometers to Ukraine as "an important signal of political support."
