The meeting took place in Vilnius.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with Svetlana Tikhanovska in Vilnius on the evening of January 25.

Tikhanovska, on behalf of Belarusians, expressed full support for the Ukrainian people who are fighting for freedom and noted President Zelensky's exceptional personal leadership, and thanked him for his strong speech at a ceremony honoring the rebels of 1863, Tikhanovska's press office reported.

Tykhanovskaia also thanked Zelensky for his support of democratic Belarus and for the fact that Ukraine's leadership divides Belarusians and the regime. Tihanovska separately mentioned Belarusian volunteers, volunteers, and partisans illegally convicted for solidarity and support of Ukraine, as well as Belarusians in Ukraine. She also paid special attention to the fate of captured Belarusian volunteers.

She also thanked for receiving the last group of released political prisoners. The parties discussed the process of releases, next steps and Ukraine's readiness to provide support of this kind in the future.

Tihanovska suggested appointing a special envoy for Belarus, as many other democratic countries have done. As well as closer cooperation with the Mission of Democratic Forces in Kiev.

Tikhanovska's visit to Ukraine was also discussed: Zelensky invited Tikhanovska to visit Kiev.

Tikhanovskaya and Zelensky also discussed sanctions policy, joint strategy with European and American partners, prosecution of Lukashenko and the regime's accomplices, including for the export of Ukrainian children.

Tikhanovskaya emphasized that the destinies of free Belarus and Ukraine are interconnected, and that the democratic forces would welcome even closer cooperation with Ukraine.
