The German chancellor called for tougher sanctions against Russia.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that Berlin is not considering the possibility of a deal with Russia on diesel fuel.

“For Germany, a deal on diesel fuel is out of the question; sanctions must be tightened,” — the newspaper Deutsche Boerse.

Merz noted that the agreement between the U.S. and Russia is unacceptable to Germany and Europe. “We are maintaining our sanctions,” the chancellor added, calling for them to be strengthened.
