The Ukrainian Armed Forces Have Advanced In The Sumy Region

Geolocation data confirmed the advance of Ukrainian defenders.

Over the past few days, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have managed to thwart a series of offensive operations by the Russian army and advance in the Sumy region.

This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

According to U.S. analysts, Ukrainian Armed Forces troops recently advanced northeast of Sumy. This is confirmed by geolocated video footage released on October 12. The footage shows Ukrainian forces advancing southeast of Yunakovka, located northeast of the regional capital.

It is also reported that in the north of the Kharkiv region, Russian troops continued offensive operations on October 12 and 13 but failed to make any gains.

Near Kupiansk, the occupiers continue to use Ukrainian civilians as human shields to facilitate their own retreat. Such actions constitute a direct violation of international humanitarian law.

According to a source covering the activities of the Russian Federation’s Western Military District, on October 13, Russian forces also attacked southeast of Borova. However, ISW analysts found no evidence of the occupiers advancing on this section of the front.

In the Lyman sector on October 12 and 13, Russian troops concentrated their attacks on Lyman itself and north of the city, toward Kolodezy. However, they were unable to consolidate their positions due to counterattacks by Ukrainian defenders.

The Russian military also recently attempted to infiltrate Ukrainian positions northwest of Chasovoy Yar. Following this attempt, according to ISW’s assessment, Ukrainian forces struck Russian positions in the eastern part of Klinove. This is confirmed by geolocated video footage published on October 12.

In the Konstantinovka sector on October 12 and 13, the occupying forces attacked within the city, to the west of it, and to the southwest of Druzhkivka. However, no advances were recorded in these areas.

In addition, Russian troops recently attempted to infiltrate south of Dobropillya. In response, Ukrainian defenders struck Russian forces in the western parts of Matyashiv and Svetly, located south of the city.

On the Oleksandrivka front, Russian forces continued offensive operations on October 12 and 13 but failed to make any gains. Ukrainian forces carried out counterattacks in the direction of Fedorivka.

On the Huliaipole front, Russian occupiers also attempted to advance on October 11 and 12, but were unable to make any headway.
