Belarus's banking infrastructure could "collapse."
Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko convened a meeting with the leadership of the KGB and the OAC. On the agenda: the destruction of data centers in Russia. They discussed the consequences for Minsk, according to the Telegram channel “Belarusian Intelligence”.
Sources reported that the OAC is concerned that, in the event of an information blackout by service providers from Russia, the banking infrastructure could “crash,” data exchange systems, email, messaging apps, customs and military databases, and payment systems, which receive data via Russian data centers.
Total dependence on Russian operating systems and data storage could bring Belarus’s information infrastructure to a standstill. The greatest concerns are for the banking infrastructure and tax payment systems, which could bring the country’s economy to a sudden halt.
The OPC has proven unable to take adequate measures; no alternative is ready, and the consequences could be comparable to “IT nuclear explosions.” Such a turn of events was not anticipated, and this is the regime’s greatest weakness today.
A group of specialists from Moscow has arrived in Minsk. The goal is to use the Belarusian infrastructure of bot farms created by the OAC to provide emergency assistance to Moscow in maintaining the flow of disinformation directed at Ukrainian, European, and American audiences, especially in the run-up to the elections. The possibility of stationing Russian information operations capabilities on Belarusian territory is being considered.
