This is the second such case after Leipzig.

On October 22, a fire broke out on a Ukrainian An-124-100 “Ruslan” transport aircraft operated by Antonov Airlines at Tubu International Airport in Japan. The runway was closed for 15 minutes due to the incident.

This was reported by the aviation website FL360aero.

After an inspection, the airport resumed normal flight operations.

It is not yet known whether the aircraft was damaged or if anyone was injured. There are also no reports on what cargo the “Ruslan” was carrying or on the cause of the fire.

The An-124 “Ruslan” is one of the largest cargo aircraft in the world; it was developed by the Antonov Design Bureau in Kyiv.

This is not the first incident involving a Ukrainian “Ruslan” abroad. On the night of August 5, at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany, a drone was discovered near an An-124 operated by Antonov Airlines a drone carrying explosives and a detonator was discovered. According to media reports, the aircraft was loaded with ammunition. The device did not explode, and U.S. intelligence linked the sabotage attempt to Russian military intelligence.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin ordered an intensification of sabotage operations against NATO countries, so the Alliance may face new attacks similar to the one in Leipzig. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also warned about the Kremlin’s plans regarding Ukraine and Europe.
