A Massive Drone Attack On Moscow Brought Three Airports To A Standstill

The planes were turned around.

On the night of October 28–29 Moscow was attacked by Ukrainian drones: 613 UAVs were flying toward the region. The mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin, reported this on Telegram.

“Between 8:30 p.m. on October 28 and 7:00 a.m. on October 29, 613 UAVs were flying toward the Moscow region,” he wrote.

Sobyanin claimed that most of them were neutralized by the Ministry of Defense’s air defense forces at a distance, while 231 drones were destroyed as they approached Moscow. He also reported that emergency response teams are working at the crash sites.

ASTRA, citing Russian media, reports that restrictions were imposed at airports during the attack. Specifically, two planes flying from Turkey to Moscow were diverted back due to restrictions at Vnukovo.

According to Russian media reports, Rosaviatsiya imposed restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky (Ramenskoye) airports. However, the restrictions at Zhukovsky were lifted an hour later, while the other two airports continued to accept flights by prior arrangement.

At the same time, ASTRA readers reported three explosions near Naro-Fominsk, 56 km from the Moscow Ring Road, with no sound of drones, but noted that explosions were occurring one after another coming from the direction of the Kaluga Region.

It wasn’t just noisy in Moscow. ASTRA reports that smoke rose above the Bashkir Soda Company in Sterlitamak amid a drone attack. This is the only enterprise in the Russian Federation that produces a unique component for armor materials.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that more than 1,200 drones attacked Russia overnight. Nineteen regions came under attack.
