Traffic Has Resumed On The South Bridge In Kyiv

During the first phase, traffic will be permitted in only one lane.

Starting October 30, traffic across the South Bridge from the left bank to the right bank will gradually resume in Kyiv. In the first phase, traffic will be permitted in only one lane and will be limited to vehicles weighing up to 10 metric tons, specifically passenger cars, reported the Kyiv City State Administration.

The decision was made based on the results of a technical inspection of the bridge and expert conclusions from the National Institute for Infrastructure Development.

At the same time, traffic in the opposite direction—from the right bank to the left bank—remains closed for now. Technical work is continuing on this section. Further announcements will be made regarding the reopening of the bridge.

In parallel, specialists from relevant municipal utilities, in collaboration with scientists, are developing technical solutions to repair the damaged structures of the South Bridge.

Specifically, this concerns the structures that support the operation of the metro system. Drivers are asked to take these temporary restrictions into account when planning their routes.

Attack on the South Bridge

As a reminder, on the night of October 27, the enemy attacked Ukraine with “Iskander-M/S-400” ballistic missiles, Shahed-type strike UAVs, “Gerbera,” and “Parody”-type decoy drones. As a result of the attack, the South Bridge in Kyiv was damaged.

Due to the closure of the South Bridge following the nighttime ballistic attack on Kyiv, detour routes were organized for drivers.
