An American correspondent compared the number of people evacuated from Oleshky to Ukraine and Russia.
As part of a humanitarian operation to evacuate residents of the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region, 11 buses carrying evacuees departed for territory controlled by Kyiv, while four headed to Russia, which exposes the occupiers’ lies about pro-Russian sentiments in this region.
This was reported by Newsmax journalist Alex Salvi, who is loyal to U.S. President Donald Trump and was covering the humanitarian mission.
“The humanitarian mission is nearing its final stage: the evacuees and their belongings are being transferred at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. This is a large-scale but carefully planned operation,” he wrote on his X page.
The correspondent also noted that people leaving the city took very few belongings with them—often just one or two bags—but did take their pets with them, he observed "Dialog".
Salvi’s colleague at Newsmax, reporter Shelby Wilder, stated that Russia is using the humanitarian operation in Oleshky for propaganda purposes. “Moscow wants to portray itself as the savior of civilians in a city that it occupied, destroyed, and plunged into a humanitarian crisis,” the journalist said.
She added that, for security reasons, she could not comment on this report until the channel’s film crew returned to territory controlled by Kyiv. According to her, viewers should be aware of the dangers and pitfalls of reporting from Russian-occupied territory in Ukraine, where information is strictly controlled and independent journalism faces serious restrictions.
