Toyota has prepared five unusual SUVs for the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The Tundra and Tacoma pickups, as well as the 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia SUVs, have been fitted with tracks instead of wheels. The projects have been collectively named Snowhunter, according to Autoblog (translation by Charter97.org).
The Tundra underwent the most significant changes. Its rear section was equipped with a system for storing and transporting bicycles, kayaks, and canoes. The Tacoma received cargo racks, a sunroof, additional lighting, and equipment for self-rescue from snow traps.
The 4Runner now features reinforced underbody protection, additional cargo tie-downs, and a roof rack. The Land Cruiser was equipped with ski racks and a spacious cargo box, while the Sequoia received front underbody protection and aluminum running boards.
The project was developed by Toyota’s CALTY Research design division in collaboration with Toyota and the TRD sports accessories division. Rigid Industries provided the additional lighting for all five vehicles.
Toyota has prepared vehicles that are “ready for the harshest snowstorms.” However, these are exhibition concepts: they are not intended for regular roads and will not go into mass production.
The main goal of the Snowhunter is to showcase the capabilities of factory-installed and aftermarket accessories that allow owners to transform standard Toyota SUVs into vehicles for extreme outdoor adventures.
