A major fire has broken out.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the "Samara" oil storage facility in the Samara Region for the second time this week, according to the monitoring channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+. According to Exilenova+, a major fire broke out at the facility following the attack, and roads in a nearby town were blocked. The channels are publishing footage from the scene. There have been no official reports of the strike on the station yet.
The “Samara” Oil Terminal is Russia’s largest oil transportation and distribution hub, owned by Transneft. The facility is used for receiving, storing, and further transporting oil. It covers an area of more than 216 hectares, and its tank farm includes 71 tanks with a total capacity of over 1.6 million cubic meters of oil.
Four main oil pipelines converge at the Samara Oil Receiving and Distribution Station: “Almetyevsk–Kuibyshev,” “Kaltasinsky–Kuibyshev,” “Nizhnevartovsk–Kurgan–Kuibyshev,” and “Guryev–Kuibyshev.” Oil from Western Siberia, Tatarstan, Orenburg, and Kazakhstan passes through the station for further transportation.
The first strike on the station occurred on the night of October 2. Ukrainian drones attacked the Samara Region that night, and in the morning, authorities declared a missile alert. Residents of the region were urged to take shelter, and public transportation in Samara was temporarily suspended.
