During the Russian army's retreat, the "relic" was lost.

Russia is sinking ever deeper into military-religious occultism, linking it to the course of the war against Ukraine. The Washington Post highlighted reports linking the Russian military’s loss of the remains of Moscow Prince Dmitry Donskoy to a major success by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donbas.

According to the WP, pro-Russian Telegram channels in the Russian Federation reported that a “sacred relic” was lost during the Russian army’s retreat.

The reports emerged amid the Ukrainian “Vivaldi” operation near Lyman. The article mentions the liberation of approximately 176 square kilometers and the capture of 250 Russian soldiers. The publication notes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ successes alone do not confirm the loss of the relics, but Russia is not convinced of this.

“If you bring a fragment of a saint’s hand to the front lines in the midst of an aggressive war, and a few weeks later the enemy strikes precisely in the right place and at the right time, your soldiers are forced to retreat and leave that hand behind… perhaps God is trying to tell you something?” the article states.

On September 8, the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces announced the dispatch of a “reliquary containing a fragment of the saint’s relics” to the front lines. The church’s statement asserted that the holy commander must “invisibly join the ranks” of the Russian military. The relic in question is a fragment of Dmitry Donskoy’s right hand. According to the publication, the relics were discovered this summer during restoration work at the Archangel Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin.

Earlier, the website Charter97.org reported that retreating troops had abandoned the relic. One of the posts stated that the soldiers came under fire during a prayer service and left the relic behind.
