On Sunday, November 1, Bulgaria will hold the second round of its presidential election, in which Iliana Yotova, the acting president, and pro-Ukrainian former Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov are competing.
This was reported by BNT.
Voting began at 7:00 a.m. local time and will continue until 8:00 p.m. If lines form at polling stations, voting may be extended by another hour.
More than 6.5 million citizens are eligible to vote in the election. A total of about 9,300 polling stations equipped with electronic voting machines are operating across the country. Polling stations with more than 780 registered voters have been equipped with two machines each.
An additional 613 polling stations have been opened abroad—in 60 countries around the world. Most of them are located in the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Germany.
It is worth noting that the first round of the presidential election saw low voter turnout. According to the results of the first round, Yotova received 34.6% of the vote, while Gyurov received 31.9%.
