The new BMW Alpina reached a speed of 300 km/h.
BMW Alpina is testing its first production vehicle since the brand joined the BMW Group. The luxury V8-powered sedan exceeded 300 km/h on a test track in Italy.
This was reported by Motor1.
The prototype of the future Alpina 7 Series, based on the updated BMW 7 Series, is undergoing high-speed testing ahead of its 2027 debut. The car is still hidden under camouflage, but it has already demonstrated its capabilities at the Nardò Technical Center test track in southern Italy.

During testing, the sedan was accelerated to speeds exceeding 300 km/h. To do this, engineers used a 12.6-kilometer-long circuit designed for high-speed vehicle testing.
BMW Alpina emphasizes that the model’s primary goal is not to set records on the racetrack, but to combine high speed with comfort. The company describes this approach with the phrase “Speed, not Sport.” The car is intended to be a luxury grand tourer for fast and comfortable travel.

BMW has confirmed that the first production model of the new Alpina will be equipped with a V8 engine. The final figures for power, torque, and acceleration have not yet been disclosed.
During testing, the prototype’s head-up display showed figures of 439 kW and 784 Nm. This corresponds to approximately 589 l.s. and 784 Nm of torque; however, these figures are not final.
Engineers specifically tuned the engine management system and the accelerator pedal to ensure power delivery is smooth, without any sudden reactions. They also adjusted the transmission settings, adapting it to higher engine RPMs and increased power.

Special attention was paid to the suspension. It is designed to provide precise handling without compromising comfort. Aerodynamic improvements help the car maintain stability at high speeds.
The prototype also features 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and special Pirelli P Zero tires. Inside the tires is an additional layer of foam designed to improve handling precision, comfort, and safety during extended high-speed driving.
Another distinctive feature is the exhaust system with four oval tailpipes. BMW promises a deep, rich engine sound. At the front, the car is equipped with amber daytime running lights reminiscent of the Alpina concept coupe, which will not go into series production.
The top speed of the new Alpina is still unknown
BMW has not yet disclosed the top speed the new sedan will be capable of. This is particularly interesting given the performance figures of the brand’s previous models.
The previous-generation Alpina B7 could reach speeds of up to 330 km/h. Later models, the B5 GT and B8 GT, also had the same top speed.
Competition in the high-speed luxury sedan segment has also intensified. The Bentley Flying Spur Speed can reach 333 km/h, while the limited-edition Maserati Ghibli 334 Ultima can reach 334 km/h. According to the manufacturer, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric car can reach speeds of up to 350 km/h.
BMW is shifting Alpina vehicle production
Following its integration into the BMW Group, the Alpina brand will manufacture vehicles at existing BMW plants. This is a significant change from the previous operating model, when the company produced small batches of cars at its own facility in Buchloe using BMW vehicles.
The original brand has been renamed Alpina Classic. It continues to operate in Buchloe and serves owners of cars produced before BMW acquired the brand. According to the company’s estimates, of the approximately 60,000 cars built over the course of a decade, about 40,000 remain in existence today.
