Lukashenko's Former Bodyguard Bought A House For $1.8 Million, But "needs Notebooks"

Lukashenko's Former Bodyguard Bought A House For $1.8 Million, But "needs Notebooks"

His wife said on TV that they built the apartment as people in need.

In September 2026, several state-run TV channels showed “Senator” Dmitry Baskov handing out backpacks and school supplies to a large family with five children in front of the cameras. This scene was filmed in Vesninka—not far from this very family’s new home, which cost nearly two million dollars, according to “Zerkalo”.

““Sometimes there aren’t enough notebooks, sometimes a change of clothes is needed”

The reports on “Belarus 1,” ONT, and STV were dedicated to the “Belarus: A Country of Large Families” initiative. Baskov presented backpacks, school supplies, and clothing to Anna Gorbakova, a mother of five and co-founder of the project.

“As a father of many children, I fully understand and know just how emotionally and financially demanding it is, even though you always try to plan everything in advance. You always end up having to buy something extra after the school year has started: sometimes there aren’t enough notebooks, sometimes you need an additional textbook, and sometimes you need a change of clothes,” Baskov explained.

It’s hard to say why they decided to give the backpacks to Anna specifically on camera. The woman was most likely already acquainted with Baskov—he had helped with her projects before.

Moreover, the head of this family was not shown in the segment. Gorbakova’s husband—Alexei Lyashkevich, the former head of Alexander Lukashenko’s personal security detail. After 18 years in the politician’s security service, he moved to “Belarusbank” as executive director and began political “purges” there. Baskov is no stranger to him: the bodyguard played hockey on an amateur team coached by the senator.

A $1.8 million home

The Lyashkevich family likely didn’t need help with the down payment. As Zerkalo has learned, in May 2026, Lukashenko’s former bodyguard bought a cottage in the upscale “Olympic Park” complex in Minsk.

The house on Ratomskaya Street has an area of 827.6 square meters, and the lot covers about 14 sotkas. The official transaction amount was $1.8 million.

We recently reported on another purchase on the same street. In February 2025, a cottage in “Olympic Park” was purchased by the mother of the head of the National School of Beauty Bozhena Eremich. The Lyashkevich and Eremich homes are located across the street from each other.

These two transactions are also linked by the seller—Lilia Belaya. She is the mother of entrepreneur Pavel Beloy, who owns the real estate developer “Tapas.” It was “Tapas” that received land adjacent to the “Lebyazhy” nature reserve by decree of Lukashenko without an auction and built “Olympic Park” despite protests from environmentalists.

Belaya did not own either property for long. The Yeremich cottage was registered in her name for two weeks, and the Lyashkevich mansion for two months. Incidentally, her son Pavel had owned the house for two days prior to her, having officially purchased it for $1.66 million.

According to information from *Zerkalo*, at least six apartments and two houses passed through this woman’s hands, which she sold less than a year after acquiring them. It’s unclear why such a scheme was necessary. Behind the scenes, there may have been a below-market price, a discount, or an informal installment plan.

“Before, we couldn’t even dream of having our own spacious home in the capital”

Anna Gorbakova often gives interviews to state media. She has five children, holds the Order of Motherhood, and is a co-organizer of the “Mom Without Filters” forum and the “Beauty of Belarus” contest for large families. After 12 years on maternity leave, she admitted that she strives to promote large families.

In May 2026, she praised the Belarusian system of state support, which “provides confidence in the future and the opportunity to raise happy children.”

“Our biggest achievement was resolving our housing situation,” she said. “After getting on the waiting list as people in need of better housing conditions, we were able to build a four-room apartment in Minsk.” “We are immensely grateful for this opportunity, because before, we couldn’t even dream of having our own spacious home in the capital,” she admitted.

It seems the woman didn’t tell the whole story. According to “Zerkalo,” the family received the four-room apartment in question in 2014 after the birth of their third child. However, it was located in a “departmental” building on Tyshkevich Street. Lyashkevich received housing there at the same time as other employees of Lukashenko’s security service. This means that the family wasn’t just waiting in the general line for those in need.

Moreover, at the time this interview was published, Lyashkevich had already been granted a $1.8 million home in “Olympic Park.” And the apartment that the family once “couldn’t even dream of” was soon sold.
