An official investigation has been launched.
On Sunday, Poland's National Prosecutor's Office launched an official investigation into shooting in Krakow, which left six people dead; the crime has been classified as a terrorist act.
The Polish Prosecutor’s Office announced this on X.
The investigation by the Lesser Poland Regional Prosecutor’s Office covers the murder of six people on November 7 in Kraków and the attempted murder of many others, including police officers, as well as the murder of three people on November 7 in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. It should be noted that during searches of the detained shooter’s residence, three bodies were discovered—those of his family members: his mother, father, and sister.
The evidence gathered by law enforcement indicates that these crimes were committed by the same person.
Prosecutors from various departments have been conducting investigative procedures—including on-site inspections—in both cities from the very beginning. These activities continued throughout the night and are still ongoing, according to the prosecutor’s office.
As a reminder, on Saturday, November 7, a shooting took place in Kraków’s central Rynek Square. A driver drove into the city’s main square and opened fire.
At this time, six people are known to have been killed and 16 wounded. In addition, 12 of the wounded are in critical condition.
A video of the attacker’s arrest has appeared online, during which two police officers were injured.
