Military aircraft are manufactured there.
Late in the evening of March 26 and after midnight, residents of several regions of Russia complained about the sounds of explosions. There was information about hitting a number of objects in the Leningrad and Smolensk regions of the Russian Federation.
In particular, in the Smolensk region, drones hit a local aircraft factory, which manufactures, among other things, military aircraft. This was reported by the head of the Center for Occupation Studies Petr Andryushchenko in his Telegram channel.
"Our drones hit the Smolensk aircraft factory. The attack on Smolensk continues," Andryushchenko noted.
This information is also confirmed by OSINT-channels. The Ukrainian military at the time of publication did not provide data on the possible defeat of the aircraft plant.
It should be noted that the Smolensk Aviation Plant is engaged in the production and modernization of military aircraft, in particular Su-25 attack aircraft. It also performs overhaul and maintenance of aviation equipment, which allows the Russians to maintain the combat capability of obsolete aircraft models.
