U.S. Navy Sinks Six Iranian Boats In The Strait Of Hormuz

The boats were destroyed by helicopters.

The US military has sunk six small Iranian boats in the Strait of Hormuz with the help of helicopters. This was reported by the Associated Press agency, citing Admiral Brad Cooper, head of the U.S. Armed Forces Central Command.

He said U.S. helicopters destroyed six boats that "posed a threat to merchant ships." Other details of the incident were not specified.

On May 4, the U.S. Central Command of the Armed Forces (CENTCOM) said two of the country's merchant ships had crossed the Strait of Hormuz as part of Operation Project Freedom.

The day before, the U.S. president announced the launch of Operation Project Freedom, aimed at removing ships from the Strait of Hormuz, which has been blocked amid a war with Iran.
