U.S. President Donald Trump said that Ukraine is suffering losses on the front and holds its position largely due to the supply of weapons. He said this in an interview with Salem News Channel.
Trump said the situation on the battlefield remains difficult, with Ukraine losing territory, although Russia is also suffering losses, he said. He emphasized that access to weapons is key, allowing the Ukrainian army to continue fighting.
Trump also described the supply chain: the U.S. sells weapons to NATO countries, after which they are transferred to Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that regardless of the quality of the equipment, the Ukrainian forces have the ability to fight.
At the same time, the American leader acknowledged the high efficiency of the Ukrainian army, saying that it surpasses other European armies and even U.S. NATO allies.
Separately, Trump criticized the policy of the previous Joe Biden administration, calling the amount of aid to Ukraine excessive. In his opinion, such supplies should be paid for.
Talking about Vladimir Zelensky, Trump characterized him as a "cunning man." He said he has a generally good relationship with the Ukrainian leader, with the exception of a tense meeting at the White House in early 2025.
