Turkey Has Significantly Increased Prices For Residence Permits For Russians

The board consists of two parts.

The cost of registration of residence permits for Russians in Turkey has increased significantly. Now the permit for one year has risen in price to more than 620 dollars instead of 44 dollars earlier.

This is reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

"Turkey has sharply increased the cost of residence permit registration for Russian citizens, which was another strengthening of restrictions for Russians abroad after the start of a full-scale war against Ukraine," the SVRU said in a statement.

As noted above, the cost of a one-year tourist permit for Russians in Turkey now costs more than $620 instead of $44. A two-year permit now costs about $1284 against the previous $144.

It is reported that the new amounts are already displayed in the application forms of applicants. The fee consists of two parts: the cost of the plastic card and the basic fee for the permit itself. For children, the price remains lower by about a quarter.

According to intelligence data, as of April, there are more than 74 thousand Russians with residence permits in Turkey. At the same time, more than 11% of Russian citizens who lived there left the country last year.

For comparison, in January 2023, the number of Russians with various types of residence permits exceeded 154,000 - the highest figure among foreigners, the intelligence agency said.

It is also reported that the tightening of financial conditions in Turkey comes amid a broader trend: a number of European states have already restricted Russians' access to residency.

In particular, Lithuania, Latvia and the Czech Republic have suspended the initial issuance of residence permits for Russian citizens. In 2026, Malta joined the list and stopped the consideration of new applications from Russians and Belarusians.

In many countries, Russians increasingly face financial, administrative and political barriers, which reflects the negative attitude towards them at the international level.

The SVRU noted that such steps are part of the general policy of limiting the presence of Russian citizens abroad after the beginning of aggression against Ukraine.
