Lithuania Has Expressed Willingness To Accept More U.S. Military Personnel
Gitanas Nauseda

This was stated by the country's president, Gitanas Nauseda.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said Europe must do everything possible to keep U.S. troops and emphasized that Lithuania is ready to accept additional troops.

He said this while speaking to reporters on Thursday, May 7, quoted by LRT.

The Lithuanian president said keeping Washington's attention on the region is crucial and NATO allies must ensure that the US does not divert its attention from Europe.

"First of all, we are interested in ensuring that these troops that may be withdrawn from Germany remain in Europe," he said.

That is why Nauseda said Lithuania would be ready to receive additional allied forces if there is a troop rotation.

"We in Lithuania are ready to receive as many allies as we can. We expect 5,000 German troops by the end of 2027. We already have more than 1,000 American military on our territory, and we are certainly ready to receive even more in the future and fulfill all our infrastructure commitments," the Lithuanian president added.
