Any provocation against Ukraine could cost the dictator dearly.
After the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana, Alexander Lukashenko responded for the first time to the statement of the commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Force Robert "Madiar" Brovdi about 500 targets in Belarus that are already "on the pencil" of Ukrainian drones. The dictator tried to justify his silence and in doing so actually threatened Kiev again.
Why did Lukashenko wait so long to respond and what does his Astana speech mean?
This is the question the website Charter97.org asked Ukrainian politician, former Verkhovna Rada deputy Boryslav Bereza:
- Recently, the situation around possible attack from the territory of Belarus has been aggravated. Although this attack is still absolutely virtual, apparently, the rattling of weapons or muscles from Kiev has scared Lukashenko. He remembers well how the Russians rattled their weapons and then used it against Ukraine.
Now Lukashenko realizes that any provocation by Belarus against Ukraine may end up absolutely not as he expects. Not just threats, but a direct attack. Moreover, an attack on the objects that are quite important for him. The same Mozyr oil refinery and all the other important objects for the "wallets" of the dictator. That is why he finally reacted.
On the other hand, Lukashenko has not yet apologized and repented for the crime he committed by providing the Russians with a springboard for an attack on Ukraine in 2022. And Ukraine has not forgotten it.
What is happening now is Lukashenko's attempt to somehow explain his position. Besides, it is obvious that Lukashenko really wants his mineral fertilizers to go to Europe. Now he is being assisted in this by the Americans, explaining that in this way they are getting him out from under sanctions.
That is why Lukashenko is now also trying to build some relations with Ukraine. Ukraine is clearly against this, realizing that this is not taking Lukashenko out from under Russia's influence, but only taking him out from under sanctions. This will only help him to fill his pockets.
- Lukashenko threatened the president of Ukraine in a covert form, saying about "one serious target" with exact coordinates not far from Belarus. What does this threat mean and can the regime escalate against Ukraine?"
- When Lukashenko says that there is a target, he hints quite transparently that it is the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. According to his logic, a strike on the Chernobyl NPP can create problems for Ukraine.
But Lukashenko is so stupid that he forgets about the proximity of the Chernobyl NPP to the Belarusian border, as well as the fact that the wind and the wind rose there are directed towards Belarus.
So a strike on the Chernobyl NPP is like hitting yourself in the balls with a hammer. Although in the logic of dictator Lukashenko it can be absolutely logical. We don't know what he likes.
- The dictator said that Belarusian soldiers in Ukraine "have never been and will never be". How much can we believe these words of Lukashenko and why did he emphasize this very point?
- Indeed, there were no soldiers of the Belarusian army among those killed or captured by the AFU. But there were citizens of Belarus who joined the occupation troops, as well as citizens of other countries - from North Korea to Laos. So there is nothing surprising here.
It is very important for Lukashenko to emphasize that these are not official actions of the state, but decisions of the people themselves. Recently in Ukraine there was a very loud story of a Belarusian cadet who joined the Russian occupation troops, got a tattoo of a target on his forehead and ended up as a "two hundredth" in the fields of Ukraine.
That is why Lukashenko emphasizes that these are just individual idiots who believed Russian propaganda and decided to make money. But the Belarusian army is not at war. And this statement is not for Ukraine, but for Belarusians.
Because Belarusians understand very well: the beginning of war with Ukraine means coffins with Belarusian soldiers, which will come from Ukraine to houses and apartments. So he informs his villeins, citizens of Belarus: no, we are not at war, these are isolated cases. So, our social contract continues to be in force.
