Retail chains are introducing new restrictions.
In Russian-occupied Crimea, there has been a surge in demand for essential goods, leading to shortages of salt, sugar, certain types of grains, and flour in retail chains.
According to Denis Chistikov , Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea , speaking on "Espresso", goods continue to be delivered, but their cost has risen significantly due to logistical risks and rising fuel prices.
“As for civilian infrastructure and supplies, it should be noted that there is increased demand for essential goods in occupied Crimea. In particular, salt, sugar, certain types of grains, and flour have begun to disappear. This has led to retail chains being advised to limit sales of such goods to a single customer,” he explained.
According to Chistikov, goods are still reaching occupied Crimea.
“However, there is another aspect to these shipments: suppliers who transport these goods via the land corridor apply a higher surcharge to the cost of delivering goods to the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea. In other words, goods are available in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea, but their cost is significantly higher than in the Russian Federation. This is due to both the risks involved in delivery and the rising cost of fuel,” the official emphasized.
