A Belavia flight that departed from Sharm el-Sheikh for Minsk on the evening of August 24 made an emergency landing at the airport in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The reason was that one of the passengers was feeling unwell. An eyewitness told this to journalists from Onliner.
According to the man, even before boarding the plane, it seemed to him that one of the passengers was feeling unwell.
“He was swaying from side to side, complaining of a headache, and even bumped into a glass panel in the terminal. However, the people sitting next to him said they didn’t smell any alcohol.” “He was sitting at the very back, and I was at the front, so I didn’t realize how serious the situation was until the flight attendants started running through the cabin and told us not to get up,” the passenger said.
The flight departed from Sharm el-Sheikh at 9:10 p.m. and made an emergency landing in Ankara, Turkey, around 11:30 p.m.
“After a four-hour layover and refueling, we took off again for Minsk. Passengers spent about 11 hours on the plane from the time of departure from Sharm el-Sheikh until landing in Minsk,” a reader said.
Belavia later provided journalists with details of the incident. According to the airline, on August 24 at 11:30 p.m., a charter flight from Sharm el-Sheikh to Minsk landed at the airport in Ankara, Turkey, due to a passenger’s sudden deterioration in health.
— The crew took all necessary measures to provide assistance. Even before landing in Ankara, the flight attendants announced over the PA system that medical assistance was required. Two qualified doctors responded to the call. The passenger underwent cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The aircraft captain decided to make an emergency landing in order to quickly transfer the passenger to medical personnel.
Unfortunately, despite all efforts, the passenger’s life could not be saved.
After completing the necessary procedures and refueling, the aircraft departed Ankara for Minsk at 2:50 a.m. on August 25 and landed in Minsk at 7:42 a.m.
